Who am I?

Let me briefly introduce myself. My name is Tom, as you may have guessed . I study biology at the University of Zurich and work part time as an assistant to the system administrator at the local Math Institute. On weekends I’m a park ranger at the Tierpark Goldau. I love travelling, and I travel as much as I can - so far, I’ve spent almost a year in South America and several weeks in the USA.

What is this blog, and why is it in English if I’m Swiss?

I started this blog in June 2008, and I was surprised how much fun I had blogging. In the beginning I wrote about all kinds of IT stuff, but after a while I started to focus on blogging, blogging tools, online marketing, traffic generation and monetization. Since I always try to improve my skills and grow my knowledge, I usually blog about stuff I just learned myself. As I like to keep it personal, I also post some personal experiences or opinions from time to time.

There are several reasons to publish this blog in English:

• Besides of showing off what I know about all kinds of things, this blog is supposed to be the center of my online activities. Many contacts I make online speak English.
• English is probably the most common language in the internet, especially when it comes to online marketing
• This blog also a place for friends to stay in touch with me. I know people from all over the world, some speak German, some Spanish, some French, and some speak English as their native language. So I had to choose one language - why not English?
• And last but not least, it gives me a good opportunity to practice my English writing skills.
